Help identifying collets

3C? Please advise

Hi all,

Along with my lathe (in the obligatory box of bits) there came 3 small collets that I've not been able to identify. They look to me like 5C but are much smaller. Perhaps they are 3C? Does anyone know?

There is no collet chuck and they are somewhat useless to me at the moment. I suspect I will go down the ER32/40 route when I eventually need collets. Still, it would be good to know what these are so that I can move them on or acquire the equipment to use them appropriately.

I think they are 3C collets. The CC indicates that they were made by Crawford, and the 327 I think signifies 3C.

Crawford Collets is now part of the 600 Group, a long established group of British machine tool manufacturers.

This is from an old Crawfords catalogue. The last three columns are capacities for round, hex & square.

This collet is the type supplied for Boxford A, B, & C lathes
