      @dunc

I am trying to locate a past article titled "Threadcutting Simplified". I believe that it was published originally in MEW although I have no idea of the year/month, author, etc.

I have a note – very poor – that there was an online supplement to it; however, beyond my note-to-self I have no further details.

While I am not certain, it may have been concerned with threading on the mini-lathe but do not dwell on this as I may be wrong.

Hoping to locate the original article (I have a digital subscription) and the follow on website note(s) if that should exist.

      Thank you

Was it about a screw cutting clutch? There was a long thread on here about it that had the title "Screwcutting Simplified" and there is this Martin Cleave article

And there were several articles in MEW on Graham Meek's very nice screwcutting clutch more recently. Plus some discussion on here IIRC.

There are several online indexes to ME and MEW if you google around a bit. Not sure how up to date they are.

'Was' being the operative word, I fear

… But this thread includes a more fulsome discussion of Martin Cleeve's work **LINK**

Don't think what I am looking for relates to Myford clutches as, unfortunately, I do not own a Myford.

Thanks Ady1 for the database link.

Not too long ago there was a series on articles on cutting long threads with dies, in the lathe.

                    Is that what you want?

@Howard Lewis: I am not certain but I do not think so. Believe the article was for single point threading on the lathe – possibly a mini-lathe

So, may I ask … how confident are you about the title that you quoted ?

This is my note to self:

"http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=49358&p=1 Thread to expand on the Threadcutting Simplified article in MEW. A version now exists – perhaps incomplete – for the Mini-Lathe"

The link above returns: "Sorry, but the thread cannot be found."

                          Hence my request.

Thread 49358 is the one Michael and I mentioned which is about the Meek screwcutting clutch, nay have been mention of a version of the clutch to fit a mini-lathe as I know Graham has done one for a Warco Mini-Lathe.

Hi there was also a article on screwcutting using imperial gears to cut metric threads or metric gears to cut imperial threads by Jacques Maurel.I built one and it worked very well i will find the MEW it was in this evening.

"A Long Travel Threading Guide for the Lathe " was on page 17 of M E W 252, March 2017, also MEW 253 page 47, and MEW 254 page 47.

MEW 247 October 2016 contained an article (Page 9) by Alastair Sinclair on "Manual Control of the Leadscrew" with a neat disengagement clutch.

The Index in MEW 249 includes a reference to MEW 240 , page 30, "Cutting Metric Threads – 63/80 combination"

                                  Any help?

Or maybe the article you seek is further back.

If it was about a clutch for the mini lathe this is a similar design in action and details here.
