I'm looking for a copy of the 1946 (I think) ME article on building the boiler for LBSCs Heilan Lassie. Any assistance or help with this would be welcome.

      thanks

      Bob..

Bob, before you start it is worth taking the views of this forum amongst others on the combustion chamber. I have understood that more recent "wisdom" is that it is a nice thing to have but not really necessary. As it can be a complication in the build I wonder what others think.

            Hi John

thanks for your reply. I am building a boiler for a Juliet. Along with the set of drawings I am following the guidance in a 1947 ME article. LBSC keeps referring to previous articles, rather than repeating himself. He refers to the Heilan Lassie article for the method of joining the boiler tube to the wrapper with a butt-strap. I am not building the Heilan Lassie boiler.

            Regards

            Bob..

LBSC started to describe the building of the boiler for "Hielan' Lassie" in ME Issue 2372 (Vol. 95 October 24 1946). A general arrangement drawing and details of how the barrel and wrapper are joined appear in that issue. How to test the boiler is in Issue 2383 (Vol. 96 January 9 1947).

These articles were reprinted starting in Issue 3091 (Vol. 123 October 6 1960), finishing in Issue 3103 (Vol. 123 December 29 1960).
