Other week was down the scrap yard hunting for bits and came across a decent haul, this is just part of it.

The rest has been cropped to stop the drool on screen and keyboards wink

Amongst this lot were the two 5" vices in the picture, one has swivel base one hasn't but dragged them home anyway.

Now I have enough vices [ or so my favourite rocket scientist says ] so offering these for free.

First come first served by PM, first come get the choice of which one.

Now the small print, MUST be collected from NG10 area 2 miles from M1 J24 / 25.

DO NOT ask for me to pack them for courier collection. I won't reply – simples

Neither will I try to cram them in the post box over the road, postman has only just got over the last hernia.

If no one shouts up they go back down the scrapyard – just though it might help someone starting out.

When I first set up a workshop I had loads of help and was given literally hundreds of pounds worth of gear.

Owning a truck garage and doing all the scrap lorries in Nottingham also helped wink but it's a poor tale if you can't give back.

I'll echo Vic's reply, nice to know there are still people like you willing to give it back.

How I wish I had a decent scrap yard in my neck of the woods, NR or IP.

What's the register diameter on that faceplate, would it fit a mini-lathe?

                            Dunno Neil,

                            Bit of a wierd one, think it's 15" or 16" diameter but it's on a D1-3 fitting.

So got to be a gap bed lathe but what gap bed lathe uses D1-3 ?

Not a CVA, Monarch, Bantam so what's left ?

It looks very like the back of the large faceplate for my lathe (Harrison M300), but that is 18" diameter and D1-4.
