      Hello

I am building a steam plant which will eventually be mated to w Anton Cristal steam engine. All of my stuff is imperial but I suspect that the motor will be metric. Anyone have any ideas what the sizes might be so I can think about how to connect them all up? Thanks.

It looks like the steam pipe comes in via a soldered nipple onto a tube from your boiler. The photo on their web site shows the nipple and nut so I assume that it would come with those items. As to the pipe diameter ???

They tend to use metric fine threads on most of their stuff, have a look at a couple of the German ME suppliers to see the common sizes. Pipe is metric too.

Here, in France there seems to be a mixture of British ME threads and metric for model steam fittings. So you'll just have to measure up what you get with the model.

Even domestic plumbing fittings here are BSP threads but specified in terms of their approximate metric diameter!

I'm with Russell on this one……

those old BSP taps + dies, large and small I nearly threw out on my move here (inherited and quite rusty) has saved the bacon or should say the cheese of many a French mate……oh yes, there are a few nice people here…..hahaha….

I think that even in the US of A they use BSP ? Do they, over to you……

No they use NPT which tends to have a slightly different pitch to BSP eg 1tpi difference and 60 degrees, plus a few finer details.

Ive also been asked to make pipe nipples for 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm pipe – these surely must be ID and as such dont help me at all…
