      Martin,

      The last time that I was I the UK, I got some 1/4" HSS tool steel to make the pivots, but I couldn't work out how cut it to length. Perhaps I could try the trusty Dremel and a cutting disc? Maybe I'll give it a try later in the week.

        Hi Martin
        HSS – either cut them with a grinding disc or use the time honoured trick of nicking them with the edge of the grinder, holding them in the vice, cover with a rag and clout them with a hammer. They will break fairly cleanly on the nick then you can dress with the grinder. WEAR GLASSES! !!

            Here in NZ the best place to get dowel pins is any of the bearing wholesale out lets. Ian S C
