I was surprised at how modern the lathes and mills are – the college has recently equipped for industrial apprentice training, totally different to Axminster training with manual lathes and mills

Takes a bit of getting used to, lack of feedback, setting speed via screen, no compond slide except on the manual demonstration lathe, ability to cut a taper by setting the angle on screen

However, the basics still apply and it is good to see what will be available on the second-hand market in 10 years time

Agree with Colin, good to meet other forum members too
