If the link works can anyone have a look at the drill press the owner cant identify. It's in America but may not be an american machine.

      Best regards Mick

Looks like a Fobco Seven Eight pillar drill to me. See here:

I think it's an Elliot . The identifying feature being the wheel that looks like a camshaft pulley on the left. Fobco 7 8 has a coolant drain slot , yours doesn't. It's ringing a bell with me , just can't put my finger on it.

Looks like it has Atlas features to me, more likely in the USA as well.

Table, Base, Capstan handle hub, shape of guard, logo on front of head etc.

It is indeed an Atlas Craftsman Phil P

It's on the Lathes website and the larger belt cover is a feature of industrial production machines to satisfy their safety codes over there.

It was identified by one of their members who is something of a tool expert.

But I found it within the Lathes archive and sent them a screen shot of the catalogue page.

Many thanks to those who contributed.

Lee, that is the housing for the coiled quill lift spring – definitely an Atlas. I've got one similar but without the belt guard (got weighed in as it was aluminium!)
