I can’t find anything on these new machines in the Forum, does anyone have any experience to share?

        Hello,

We have been selling ELS Electronic Leadscrew Lathes since the beginning of this year we have sold a few now so can get some information from customers who have brought one if you would like?

What sort of information are you after?

        Kind Regards

        Luke

Luke, now that you have these lathes back in stock it would be useful if you and Hugh could get together and make a video of how they work, the Weiss video on your site does not make it very clear what is going on to anyone who can’t read Chinese.

Also instead of just having the carriage move up and down as per the Weiss video it would be a lot better to see the machine actually cut some threads preferably in steel.

I am interested to know wow accurate they are and if anyone has written a review or done a thorough test. I didn’t know there was a video on your site, I’ll have a look. Chris

Well if there is a spare one knocking about I’d give it a try and do a review for the mag.

Luke, did you get a chance to look at whether you can enter any pitch as discussed in this earlier thread?

This is tghe video that I mentioned and also one of teh larger 250 size lathe

Jason ill send you a message regarding this as it would be good to have a review of one of these type machines in the mag.

Interesting that you can program the saddle to traverse back and forth without the chuck rotating Having broaching in mind.

It could be a useful feature for both keyways and splines. Just need to bear in mind that it is the half nuts and leadscrew driving the carriage as opposed to the usual method of the carriage handwheel and rack.

The amount of power needed for broaching and keycutting is quite considerable and although you can take smaller cuts for the keyway cutting its more difficult for broaching as the cut is set by the broach and as Jason says quite a load on the half nuts.

I have my Myford setup with 2 axis Rocketronics & I can’t fault it , I added Rocketronics to it because I have gout in both hands & struggle to hold & turn handles for any length of time but even just the 1 axis is worth it.
