        Hi,

I have recently acquired a Colchester Bantam, this has a No2 Dickson post fitted. Working as an engineer, I have seen more than a few and never had any problem with them, However, this tool post has 2 broken top cams, one is serviceable, and the other is pretty much beyond redemption.

My solution was to remove the 3rd cam and fit it in place of the badly broken one. The only problem is I cant see how to remove them, I have searched the internet and not found anything to help, sad does anybody have any suggestions on how to take the toolpost apart. I hope this dodgy picture works.

If I remember rightly you push the plate that holds the tool holder in with your hand and just wiggle the cam out – upwards, Will pop down to the workshop later and confirm.

At those prices, I think I will just resort to indexing the tool post.

                  Well Ian

You could of course MAKE one ! ( However I guess life may be too short for that. I do know that I certainly have a tendency to get sidetracked all too easily – but hey I only do this for fun . At least that's how I justify it to myself)

I got spare holders for my Bantam from either Chronos or RDG (forget which). They are Indian I think (Soba?) and perfectly good for my needs.

Teehee the Rotagrip prices are removing yellow fluid! Anyone buying stuff there should get sacked.
