has anyone ever made or seen plans for a dead weight tester? Our club is looking at one in order to test our test gauges but they are a tad expensive, Cheers Mike

I'm pretty sure a design has been published Mike (most likely in ME) because I do recall seeing one, although it was a good while ago and I cannot find any reference to it I'm afraid.

But maybe some else here can help?

          Regards,

          IanT

Whatever system is used to calibrate a Club's pressure gauge, it needs to be traceable to UK Measurement standards in order to comply with the S Fed/NAME 7/14"G regs. This would include the weights used on a deadweight tester and then having the deadweight tester approved as well. Having these calibrated at regular intervals would probably be as expensive as having a pressure gauge calibrated.

Buying a calibrated pressure gauge isn't expensive – we got one from RS last year for £50.

If a boiler goes bang and you can't prove traceability, the Insurance will become invalid.

                Hello, Mr McKay. Mr Barraclough…

Nigel thanks will reinforce that info though our tester should be aware Cheers Mike
