      I discovered how our ancestors measured distances without Google Maps. I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s quite interesting.

          “ancestors” They are not that old !

          I used to have one in the 1980’s. Back when we used maps in cars, before we had Google and GPS navigation.

            Yes – a conventional map-measurer. I didn’t know it has a fancy name!

            I had (not sure if still have) a sort of poor man’s version that used something like a continuous loop tape-measure inside a cylindrical body.
