Hi guys does anyone know where I can buy a new or used 3/4 hp single phase 4 pole electric motor for my clarke cl500 metalworker lathe from.tried machine mart but they are coming back with over £400 which I thought pricey any help appreciated john.
I have just seen the other thread regarding this lathe. I wonder if you have bought a machine that has had a three phase motor fitted already. The standard stop start wiring would be disconnected if this was the case. Single phase motors tend to be defined by rpm and 3 phase by poles.
I now have a question, I was told by MM that the shaft was 15 mm can somebody confirm that it is 16 mm, my new 3ph motor is 14 and I have to make a sleeve.
Hi John, I used to have a clarke lathe/mill, I changed the motor for a 3 phase to use with an inverter, as far as I know still have the old motor which you are welcome to have, will have a look tomorrow and let you know.
I should add that working in the industrial fan industry we use a huge amount of motors, mainly 3 phase, but 400 quid for such a small motor is scandalous.
I have this if you are interested. I took it off my myford to fit a 3 ph motor, it's in perfect condition & is wired up with a reversing switch & stop start station, 3/4hp 240v ac. All ready to go. Only needs a plug fitting. Can be seen working. I'm in Leeds so pick up only. £130 would snap my arm off.
Steve.
