There is a previous, fairly comprehensive thread for the Chester DB8. This is the older one, 6 Spd not the V later version with a longer timing belt.

Our timing belt has disintegrated, it needs a M1.5x z118 x15

Chester don't have them any more, ArcEuro Trade, have shorter and longer but not this one. Has any one found these belts? Or managed to find an alternative that works? Or modified their DB8 to a different set of pulleys or different system?

Any thoughts or pointers will be much appreciated, thanks Richard

You could try someone like Davall Gears, or Rekiance Gears to see if they could supply, since they supply the pulleys for toothed belts.

It seems that the belt spec. is rather rare, confined to Asian-made machines.

There is one available from LittleMachineShop:

              https://www.littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=2811&category

That gives the makes and models of machines it fits, so you could look for UK equivalents (maybe Warco, Amadeal etc.) or even to European suppliers (I think Optimum and maybe HBM are brands that are used there).

There have been a couple of other threads about these belts, worth a search.

Noel the pitch is nearer to 5mm so not that fine. From the older threads I think they are 1.5 x pi = 4.71

M1.5 x 15 x 124t is standard for the Sieg C6 lathe. Maybe with an idler pulley it could be made to work.

M1.5 x 20, 24 or 25 x 118t can be found by searching for 'wedm belt 1.5 118'. £5.66 from a place that cannot be mentioned. Reasonably easy to reduce the width.

There is one on eBay for £29.88 shipped. Put '1.5M*118' into the search box.

I think I am allowed to link to this supplier:

                  https://www.edmsammlite.com/products/consumables-spare-parts/ (part number B015118).

Thank you Jason, that makes more sense ! 5m is near but not near enough. Could it be classical pitch 3/16" ? Noel

No more like MOD gears with the pully teeth circular pitch being spaced in a similar way eg Module x pi

See my post at the bottom of this page from when the subject came up before

If the DB8 is similar to the DB-10G then I think the idler (The large toothed belt pulley and the stepped V belt pulley.) is mounted in a slot so the tension can be adjusted. It MAY be possible to make the slot longer to allow you to use a longer or shorter toothed belt. As the belt for the DB10 is 124 teeth and yours is 118 teeth then you would need to move the idler by the spacing of 3 teeth which is about 15mm.

                        Les.

Just to update this thread as the OP has vanished without trace.

I bought some of these belts from a man named Ali, who sent them Express delivery. Photo below. They are M1.5, 118t and 23mm wide.

I would like to send one to someone who can properly road test it and advise on its suitability, longevity, ease of fitment, etc.

If the report comes back favourably, the rest of them will be made available via the sales page.
