At present I have a propane gas cylinder with a Clarke torch, it is OK for soft and silver soldering but is a struggle to braze with. I have been looking at the above SF3100 kit and it seems to be the answer, does anyone have any experience with it. The prices range from about £75 from Germany to £150 in the UK. I would only need it for the occassional braze and can't really justify the expense of an oxy/ace set up. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Pat

I've got one of these from CUP. Very useful if you need a bit of spot heat for a leaky stay. But, and it's a big but, there is not much heat but lots of temperature so background heating with propane is really necessary and you will be lucky if the oxygen cylinder lasts 10 minutes ( at £20+ each).

Are there any air blown torches suitable for use with Propane? A long time ago I used a purpose made torch with coal gas and the blow end of a domestic vacuum cleaner for brazing, very hot it was too!

I had a Rothenberger brand, Propane / C-Air torch 20+ years ago, not sure if they still make them though.

Not sure about rothenberger but Flamefast do a couple of gas/air torches, not tried one, would be good to know if anyone has experience with these.
