Boxford Mk2 AUD Spindle Lock

Hi all,

I have inherited a Mk2 AUD which is missing some parts. Some like the reverse and back gear select handles are still available from Boxford spares or wont be too hard to fab. However the machine is also missing the spindle lock. The bushing and the spring are still available but the Spindle Lock plunger isnt. It shouldnt be too hard to fab being, I believe, round stock but I have no dimensions for one. Is there any change that anyone with one can take a photo and then add the dimensions to the photo such that I can have a go at turning one? Also I dont know how the plunger is prevented from pushing all the way into the headstock, ie is there a roll pin or some such limiting its travel? Any help gratefully received.

in fact, scrub that last bit. Having a bit of a senior moment and then looked at the diagram again. It is the dished head of the plunger that prevents it being pushed too far into the head and there must be a step of some sort on the plunger which prevents it coming out too far under return spring tension. So with that cleared up, just need the dimensions to fab one!!

I have managed to order a replacement plunger so unless it goes missing in transit (I live in New Zealand so it’s possible!) I think it’s all good.🤞🏻
