boiler lagging

progressing with the 5inch steel boiler – does it have to have lagging? given how thin most lagging is i question how effective it is as an insulater??

Does not have to but a couple of layers of kaowool with baking foil between will help with some heat loss.

You also get a decent surface to paint if you lag the boiler as the tube will just have the finish straight out of the mill and be like black iron not bright like cold drawn.
