      Hi All
I have been looking at a reasonable priced 3D program and have ViaCad 2d 3d on a 14 day trial.
I can draw in 2D and 3D ok but am having trouble when switching views and switching from 2D to 3D.
What happens is, say I have a 3D drawing open in Top view and then swich to e.g
isometric, the item I am drawing is not there. If I scroll around I can eventualy find it as a much reduced drawing. This can’t be right.
I must be missing some basic feature but cannot find the answer in the tutorials.
I quite like the program and have mastered the basics quickly (except this issue!)
If I cannot find the answer I shall have to try another.
      David

I have ViaCAD so I hope I can help you.

Are you drawing way off to one side of the origin by any chance (Menu > View > Show Axis, if not visible)? If so, press one of the following keys ( a,s,d,f,g), so that the view changes until nothing is visible.

Right click the mouse and select Zoom All – you **should** have something onscreen now that can be rotated and zoomed etc.

Remember that it’s possible to draw a couple of items 0.01mm in size that are 999999999mm’s apart, so they’re easy to lose if you’ve zoomed out a long way!

Keeping things close to the origin gives an easy reference to aim for when panning and zooming.

I’ll send you a PM so you can email me a test file if you want.

          Martin.

Thanks Martin for the quick reply.
            You have the answer!
I was drawing a long way from the origin. I have repositioned the drawing and all is well. I knew it was something obvious but I just couln’t see were I was going wrong.
            Thanks again.
            David
