ALDI bandsaw

Just took a look at ALDI website and saw this:

As you can see the description reads:

• Material: Steel, plastic & aluminium
•  

So is that steel, plastic and aluminium doing the sawing or steel plastic and aluminium being sawn???

It comes under product description, so unless they supply it with some materials for you to practice on it is what it is made of. Plus the blade speed is a little excessive.

Put a really good quality blade on it and then enjoy. Yes the speed is a touch high, but you gets what you pay for. The difference between a good blade and the rubbish they supply with the saw is a revelation.

Should be okay for plastic or aluminium but FAR too fast for steel.

how good is the motor (can it be reused in other equipment, can rotation direction be changed?) – on box just states 1400rpm 350W induction motor

LOOKS very similar to the small bandsaw supplied by Axminster – but that one comes on a cabinet stand. I have one and it is fine for occasional woodwork – don't remember the price now but more than the one in the ad. I also bought a dust extractor unit with mine and this is almost essential as the saw produces loads of fine dust.
