I need a connector for my air line to compressor and so far been unable to view one on the net before purchasing. My description, it needs to have a female 1/4 " BSP thread one end, the other has sort of captive half shell which, when screwed down traps the plastic pipe end flange. These were often fitted to cheap DIY compressors. John

          Google Female stud coupling

Much easier to use pushfit though

          regards

I  use PCL push fit connectors on all air tools etc. There are lots of names for different brands. I think the ones on the Aldi stuff are just called euro connectors but could be wrong. Cannot imagine the one you describe. Sounds more like a hose pipe connector. Could you post a picture.

I now the type you have but it pays to standardise all you fitting. Like Stevietr I have all PCL couplings on every tool as well as the hose to compressor. Save a lot of messing about and quick to couple and connect whenever I need to.

Scrap the fitting and use PCL couplings. Any good auto factor will stock them and there not very dear. Noel

Agree with Derek completely. Have been using compressors most of my adult life (a long time) & always used the PCL fitting for everything & as said above they are cheaper than chips. I found them to be the most reliable & an industry standard.

Have always used PCL fittings until recently, when I swapped to the Euro type, mainly because I got some tools with the Euro connectors already fitted. One major difference I noticed is that the Euro ones have a larger bore than the standard PCL which may or may not be important to you.

A good idea which someone mentioned on another thread recently is to use one type for tools connected to an oiler and the other for clean dry air. I got my Euro fittings from Amazon – see here

I did use PCL couplings when using a long flexible hose from the compressor, but I'll be changing over to the Euro 25 couplings when I put the fixed copper air line around the shed. They have a larger bore.

I have the 15mm copper feed around my workshop & have no problem with PCL. The only time the larger bore would be handy is if you do a lot with a large orbital sander. They take a huge CFM. Or a large impact gun. I used to do a lot of spray painting, cars & motorcycles. The pcl has no problem with that. All that said I have a very large 150litre compressor running at 150psi. 16CFM.

Many thanks to all who replied. I've decided to discard the old hose and fitting and move on to modern ones PLC or Euro. John
