      Hi,

I have just started building a Les Warnett designed 9F in 5″ gauge and decided to begin with the Tender.

Despite lots of head scratching, I can’t work out from the drawings how the axle boxes are constrained sideway in the horn cheeks.  The axle boxes are just rectangular with no ‘instep’. It seems that the axle can move sideways, and only stopped by the wheels hitting the frames!  This can’t be the case and I am obviously missing something really simple.

I have tried drinking more beer before looking at the drawings again, but this hasn’t helped!

      Can anyone enlighten me?

      Many thanks

      Mark

I should have the EIM drawings give me a clue as to year edition Etc. And I will see what I can make of it. I have a Winson/Modelworks version. Noel.

I’ve just had a look at p18 of EIM Vol 11, and I’ve seen on p19 that the Axlebox Covers (fitting inside the axleboxes) are bit wider at 1.375″- and the aperture is 1.25″. Problem solved?

Thankyou both so much for your replies.

Just checked the drawings and Nigel nailed it.  I was looking for something on the outside of the frames

            Thankyou again.
