Hi, After obtaining my first Myford ML7 i stripped it down repainted and cleaned it all up.
But i have a bit of an issue, on re-assembling the spindle i found that there is play between the headstock pulley and the distance sleeve (B13).
I honestly can’t remember if it was there before? should it be there or do i need to push the spacer further?

      Thanks in advance.

      Nathan.

The pulley should only have just enough end play to allow it to rotate when using the back gear.

I have now had the opportunity to look at the Parts Breakdown in the Manual and also to look at my old ML7. B13 will be up against the step in the spindle and Thrust Washer etc will have been set up to control the spindle lateral position. The final clearance between the pulley and the B17 back gear is determined by adjusting Socket Set Screw B31 which sets the position of the back gear. There should as I said earlier a small clearance and when correct the Back Gear will line up very well with B50, the smaller gear on the cluster, below.
