I tried to log on this evening and the website didn’t recognise my password, it’s the one I have used for years, tried a number of times but wouldn’t accept it. I had to request a new password which was sent by email and enabled me by using it to gain access. I have now changed the password and re-used the one that it refused to recognise earlier , it accepted it as a replacement for the supplied new password so will have to wait and see if there are any more problems. Has anyone else had access problems with their passwords? I have also noticed that recently I have had to login every time I accessed the website, the “remember me” function doesn’t appear to work, again has anyone else had this problem?

The 'remember me' is a feature of your computer, usually in the particular browser used to access the site

I have the same problem on a number of sites. Could it be a Windows 10 update?

Funny that! I have that feature on my computer and it works on every other forum – except this one.

Is there something on this forum that disagrees with the compuer ‘remember me’ feature?

I have the same problem, it only ever happens on this site.

There's a little more to it than that. If you log on from a second device, the first device no longer "remembers" (even though nothing has changed on that device).

I’m currently logged on to my laptop and smart phone without any problems.

                      .

That would be a massive improvement over the previous behaviour, Martin

                      Thanks for mentioning it.

Whilst they were both live they worked but as soon as the mobile was taken off line its reset itself so I have to log in again.

It must be this HTTPS change as I've always been able to be logged in with both devices but it appears I now cant.

Remember me uses cookies, but also gets reset if your ip address changes or our server connection is reset, if the number of log ons exceeds a certain number the person logged on for longest is logged out and finally it times out after a certain number of days anyway. basically our system is set to be more security conscious on this than most other sites, I don't know why and I can't change it.

This means multiple things can mean it forgets your connection.

I was 'logged out' several times in succession a week or so ago, for example.

Thanks Guys for your replies; Ray it’s not Windows 10, I am on an IPad and all my internet devices use Mac programs, manage to escape from Microsoft a number of years ago. I accept the explanation of the “remember me” function but no explanation for why the site would not accept the password that I have used for years and was then able to change the supplied password for the old one it had rejected!
