hi, I have recently bought an old Colchester Student lathe – it needs a little bit of work – but generally is ok – needs some tooling and a 4 jaw chuck – my question is from the serial number F2/61688 can anyone tell me when it was built – I know its ancient like me! Thanks in anticipation

            .

Only last week a friend of mine bought a new cross slide leadscrew for a Colchester lathe. When he gave the guy in the parts department the serial No. he automatically informed him that it was made in 1984.

So perhaps a call to them would be an easy route.
