Hi All,

So getting near the point of considering painting….question is, what colour? I am kindof set of the box bed being black, but everything else is flexible.

My thought right now is to do the boxbed Stuart black, the cylinder Stuart Green and the flywheel red and everything else polished. Will three colours look odd? What colour red would i use – i have heard somewhere of people using a specific red and mixing a tiny amount of black in? I welcome any other suggestions….

I know this seems trivial in the grand scheme of things, but having spent so long making the thing, i want to make sure i get the colours looking good.

I used 'PlastiKote' insignia red for my Stuart flywheels. Looks a nice muted red, not a screaming scarlet or pillar box red, usual disclaimer …

Matt,

I know it wouldnt be Stuart but would you consider another colour and ring the changes. What about Ruston Maroon, I think that against polished parts would look really eye catching. I know Craftmaster Paints do it as I was looking at it a while back.

Here is a couple of pics of my Vertical single cross engine during its painting process… All colours 'PlastiKote fast dry' enamel… bought from 'Hobbycraft & Halfords' .. usual disclaimer

FDE Aero Sky blue…

1240 FDE Aero harbour blue… rim… FDE Aero Crème de la Crème…

All paint sealed with clear lacquer…

My colour stock consists of rattle cans …

Stuart green
Stuart Black
T045 Garden green
FDE Aero sky blue
FDE Aero crème de la crème
FDE 1240 Aero Harbour blue
1065 Insignia red
E508 Chrome effect.
