Hello some thing to test your memory, around 1964 a Mr Norman Cartwright died in Stockton on Tees. and his entire house and contents were sold at public auction through Saltburn sales rooms.

included in the contents of this characters house which was full of old stuff was 10 or 12 model steam engines of various makes styles and designs, I was 17 years old at that time and although Norman had bequeathed one engine to me this request had not be written down or recorded and the whole lot went through the auction and proceeds back into the coffers of the town hall.

the engine was a 6 cylinder inline engine about 10 inches long 2 inches wide and 4 inches tall on a wooden base.(it is not to scale) as Norman kept reminding me, it was painted a cream colour on the cylinder blocks, that is all I had to remember this auction and models attracted a huge crowd and the bidding went up to nearly £400, remember you could buy a house for that amount of money in Stockton. I never saw this or any of the engines again and I often wondered were they ended up. does anyone remember such a collection of steam engines being discussed on the market. or if they ended up in a museum? I contacted the sales rooms many years later and they said they could not remembering selling these items and only kept details for 5 years.

Norman was a great friend of Leslie Brown he owned a toy, model shop and was a competent model engineer. he made enquiries and received no information back, anyone out there that may have details or acquired such a beast, I am not claiming it but I would love to have a photograph of the engine.
