      Good morning,

I have just been given an incomplete GWR Class 7 5” gauge loco. It is in very poor condition but I thought it worth having a go at completing it. I hope someone might be able to point me in the right direction for drawings and castings? Also has anyone such a model in the course of construction or finished?

as always your help is much appreciated.

Just a small query, that is the second time today that a reference to MECH has been made.

I have not come across this before, can you give more details?

            Thanks

            Martyn

Thanks very much for your responses. Would anyone be able to give details of the supplier of drawings and castings before the more recent Polly offering of the Pete Rich designs as for sure my sad incomplete loco must be many decades old. Best regards Keith

Have you tried the 7 1/4 gauge society? If it was a known design then where would be others around and known to the society.
You could also check for precision on frame shape etc. There are some people who obtain works drawings and make a precision model from that and are likely to be meticulous and some who scale up an 0-gauge drawing which might therefore have some deviations from exact sizes.

Thanks for all of your help. I have loaded 5 images of the poor engine and tender and the the frames are indeed 33 inches long. If anyone can help confirm if it is a GWR Class 7 or not! I would be very grateful. Castings have been used in the construction and the person who gave it to me referred to it as a Gooch engine.

                                your help is must appreciated.
