I am just a few years off completing a 5" SPEEDY loco and looking at the chassis, it occurs to me that it would be near impossible to get oil into things like eccentrics for the water pump and lubricator. I have added a "lube" system for the axle boxes, but that wouldn't work for an eccentric as its path would move away from the delivery point as the axle rotated.

Even if you had a jig to turn the engine upside down, the oil holes for the eccentrics would be unreachable.

What does everyone else do ?

How on earth do you oil your loco?

I've failed to find a photo I once saw on the web of a loco (Simplex?) with an elongated tray fitted to the eccentric strap, funnelling oil from a drip feed into an oil hole. It took me a while to work out why the loco had four pipes from the oil box on one side and three on the other.

Good evening SB i have just bought a 5inch loco to platy with whilst I build my own Loco and have been wondering the same. I asked another member at my local club and he said "use Steam Oil it will stick everywhere" Looking at the underneath of my 5inch loco I can believe it. It does seem very hit and miss to me though.
