Decided to go for the 3" precision . This thing has surprised me in the quality of the build and the finish on the grinding ,the clamping of the jaws was a bit fiddly to begin with, have since figured it out and now I'm very pleased ,especially for the money it cost me .

I agree with you Sean, an excellent vice but the locking system is a bit hit and miss. I've often tightened the locking screw only to find the work isn't secure. When this happens you need to advance the T rod one notch further towards the fixed jaw. The newer version with a slot instead of the holes for clamping are supposed to be better in this respect.

I have a Vertex one similar to yours Sean, and I like it and use it for precision work. I agree with your comments about quality and not too expensive.
