Hi all, Any ideas on this pair of tools? I know what they are but I'm surprised by how many experienced engineers were foxed at my club. Mick

They attach to a rule and are for marking out key seats on a shaft.

Well done Mike. Key seat gauges is what they.

They are fantastic as they allow the rule to sit along the centre of a shaft and make the ruler easier to pick up from the bench to boot.

I will post a pic of the tool in use.

Used a lot in Shapers as well and very effective.

                      Bullseye again.

Saw reference to them in a chapter on shapers and scoured the web to find a pair, very effective and simple to use,

20170102_171747.jpg The section shows how the faces are ground to ensure they work properly.

If you don't have a pair of these a length of angle will do the same job.

Thanks for the link Mike. In particular, I found robjon44's description very useful. They sound exactly like a quick 'first project' for 2017.
