Looks good. I'm not convinced my 280 is any better than yours? smiley.

Is yours the one that GandM Tools had advertised recently?

            Hi David

There's a nice Bison chuck on FleeBay but it's a D1-5 could I get a backplate to fit it to the D1-3 nose?

If yes any chance you could send me a link to one 👍

If that Bison Chuck is the one at Forest Row for £250 it looks to be an integral mount not a backplate. A small chuck for D1-5 mount.

Pictures aren't as helpful as they might be but I can't see a backplate joint line on the side. I have his 200 mm brother with integral D1-5 mount and, allowing for the size difference, it looks essentially identical. Best ask the seller to be sure. That is an extremely good price for what should be an excellent chuck. I'm extremely happy with my 200 mm one.

If the seller isn't sure if its a backplate or integral mount Forest Row is only a few miles up the road from me so i could always go and look. Be a nice excuse to give the Norton a bit of exercise!

              Clive.

                      Hi Nick

I'm after a 3 Jaw for now and I believe the multi-seized is a collet chuck

                      Thanks

If it were me, I would chose the Tos over the other 2. The vertex, if you get a good one, last quite well. If you get a bad one, you will regret it. The Prat chuck is only their standard stuff, and the last standard Prat they brought at work is just terrible compared to the 40 year old Prat chuck. The Tos chucks I have had dealings with were from about 20 years ago now, and is still in a very good condition and still quite accurate over the entire range.

As for spare parts, order them when you order the chuck. Waiting 10 years then to go and get a replacement set of jaws, most likely that model chuck and jaws won't be available. Then if they are like Prat, charge you a huge amount just for the jaws, that you may as well by another chuck, and put the jaw set on that are not normally used.

                        Neil
