Our neighbourhood watch fell apart some years ago and we now have a neighbourhood alert system from the police, this system informs (those signed up) by email about crooked activity and issues in the area.
We were recommended the Ring doorbell system also a request that if we have any cctv to register it with them so the police know who to contact if footage is needed.
I did neither of the above but would offer cctv footage on a voluntary basis if something happened to warrant that, although it only covers our house and garden.
We are being watched all over the place, in shops, on the street, on the roads & pavements, incredibly there is even a camera (with warning notice) in the gents toilet in one of the nearby town shopping precincts.
It was recently reported that somebody was stopped by the police apparently because he covered his face when walking past one of their new facial recognition camera systems then refused to uncover it.
The same system that is used to track a suspected criminals movements can so easily be used to track anyone’s movement for who knows whatever supposed reason?
Our shopping habits are tracked by giving us loyalty cards with the carrot of rewards dangled to sign us up.
Our politicians passed laws enabling organisations to spy on our communications.
Welcome to today’s brave new free world.
