Small fly press?

I have rediscovered this which I brlieve is a small fly press. It is about 280mm high. There are no markings on it and I have no information about it. There is a spring return which 'unwinds' the action.

Any info or ideas would be welcome as to it's use or purpose.

Possibly made for embossing things. Have seen similar adapted for that purpose on thin metal but, as I recall it, the mounting of the business end didn't appear to be of factory quality.

I have two similar but mine are for putting eyelets in shoes boots regard norm

Used a lot in the back-street industries we used to have. Good for short-run small fabrications, bending, flattening, riveting, etc. The sort of machine that would be useful to make brush-holders for electric motors, from folded brass. Because the loads are relatively low, the tooling for short runs can be made without fancy heat treatment, etc.

Maybe for broaching or nibbling shaped holes in thin plates; or folding tabs, etc.

It looks to have potential !! … Some detail photos would be interesting.
