Seeking help (cutting 3mm aluminium plate)

In absence of any better equipment I would put tape around end of a hacksaw blade to give a grip and after cutting in as far as possible with ordinary hacksaw from both ends I’d use my taped blade pad saw fashion to cut the rest .

The only thing ib making a copy of the Eclipse 55 saw is that the backing blade requires to be no thicker than the hacksaw blade, and straight, and strong enough to hold the hacksaw blade in tension. Stick to a cheap hardened crosscut saw, the cut will be a few thou bigger than a hacksaw, but not too much. Ian S C

May I suggest a Sheetack saw for unlimited length cuts in sheet metal. I bought one ex-WD several years ago and it works well. It takes standard hacksaw blades but appears to be a lot more rigid than the Eclipse 55.

I have both a Sheetack and an Eclipse 55s

Both are useful, albeit different.

The original post seemed primarily concerned with cutting straight; which is why I recommended the Eclipse.
