          Hi,

Not quite sure what you mean by "castings for rivet closing tools" specifically, but Chronos sell Snap Head rivet setting and forming tools. Are they the same thing? I've just bought a pair for 1/16" Snap Head rivets.

Do you mean a toggle action rivet tool, a watchmaker's bush and riveting tool, or air riveter or a rivet snap?

I think Tracy Tools used to do snaps but probably most people just make one.

Atelier do them, you may also want to enquire with Polly Eng who sell assembled ones as they may also do the castings.

EDIT, Polly do list the castings, page 39

Grateful thanks, Jason B. The Atelier ones look perfect – but I shall have to enquire if they ship to the UK. Otherwise, it will have to be the "Polly" one. I remember some years ago someone did a kit – not Hemingway – and the actual casting was made from a hardened steel. Might have been Bruce or Maidstone.

                Thanks everyone.

Polly and Bruce are one and the same. I'm not sure if they are cast steel or ductile iron.

I've altered the title in the hope Roderick Jenkins (Rod) will see your post as he has made the set of 3, if not you could PM him

I bought my castings direct from Atelier. The castings are very nice quality iron. However, I have not found that the resulting tool is very satisfactory, there seems to be too much flex in the castings for copper rivets. I was warned off after I'd ordered mine and my correspondent recommended adapting a pair of compund action pliers instead.

                    HTH,

                    Rod

Edit: I think these are the pliers that were actuall recommended https://www.fabory.com/en_GB/knip-plier-wr-86-8603-150mm/p/K1086300150?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrIf3BRD1ARIsAMuugNurT6kMG3O1FALXNlh9Mj76MqLCkIGpfCoshm6JgEEKGSVutR1TJ04aAlSAEALw_wcB
