I have a Perris milling machine which I think is early 1970s.
It was advertised in Model Engineering Exhibition issues in the early 70s.
It has no serial number and I wonder if anyone else has one, or is it the only one that Perris ever sold.  It is badged as being made in the Worhting factory.

The machine can be set up as horizontal or vertical by repositioning the spindle bearing assembly

If someone emails me at kcocks.oneton@yahoo.co.uk I can send a photograph.

        Thanks
        John

You can find information about Perris machines here:

The rights to their designs went through various owners ending up in the hands of ‘Cowells Machine Tools’ whose site is here:

As you’ll see, these machines remain in production albeit at a high price.

Joe thanks for your reply, my machine does not look like any of the Cowells machines and they have no knowledge of it.  I sent them a photo.

If you send me your email address I will send you a pic to peruse.

            Regards
            John

              Hi John,

There’s likely to be wider interest in this than just me. Why don’t you post the picture to this site — this is quite straightforward to do.

In the top left hand panel headed ‘My Account’ click on ‘My photos’. This will open a page with various link-type headings including ‘Create a Photo Album’. Click on that and a fresh page will appear inviting you to enter details about the album i.e. a title and description. Do that and then click the ‘Create Album’ button. Another page will appear with a series of blank fields with ‘Browse’ buttons alongside. Click on the ‘Browse’ button and your own computer’s file selector/explorer will open. Navigate to the location of the photo on your computer (this must be in JPG format) and click on the file selector ‘OK’ button. The file selector will disappear and the file ‘path’ details will appear in the first field. Then click on the ‘Upload Photos’ button and a copy of your photo will be uploaded from your computer to this site.

Then you can post again drawing attention to the photo. In the left hand thread column beneath your name people will see a clickable link showing, say, ‘1 photos’. Clicking on that and opening the album will allow people to see your photo.

Apart from that, you might consider taking a range of photos and submitting them to Tony Griffiths at the Lathes UK site linked above. He has a special interest in small hobbyist machine tools so he may like to add information about your rare machine to his Perris archive.

              Joe
