      Hello Ern,

The paper plans for Pansy are available here:

      http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/search.asp?k=pansy&x=25&y=9

I'm afraid that, as the copy protection of electronic plans is all but impossible, we are unable to supply electronic copies.

      Neil

Hi to remove the boiler you need to do the following. Remove water tanks, cab. Undo the water feeds from the back head and from the cleck valves on side of boiler.just under the smoke box there are a number of screw or bolt heads on each side.undo these and remove.inside the smoke box you will see a large nut undo this. You can then left the boiler and smoke box from the frames.mchael.

Ps also remove boiler plug to be found on boiler firebox lower left hand side as looking at loco from the rear

Well fellas we got it done with NO breakages. Thanks to you all,

Inside the smoke box right at the bottom covered with a layer of soot and junk. After scratching around with found a small cover plate. This when lifted and remove gave us access to a hole and t the bottom of that hole we found a head of a screw, we unscrewed it an off came the top with no problems.
I will put up some photos to the albun of what we found

. No wonder it would not run. But in hindsight we all agreed that it would have happened (broken) sooner rather than later. The next job is to find replacement parts, and get them flown out to Vietnam.

            Thanks again

That's great news, Ern. Nothing beats pulling the beastie apart to get more intimate with her workings and correct her where she is wrong!

                Thanks Andrew

It is good to get amongst it mate, but we have found many problems underneath. Of course I'll be annoying the members with a heap of more questions.

If you look at my album you see them Andrew

Just checked out your album, Ern, the track is looking great. I recall the editor of an Aust model eng magazine designing a multicut saw to produce the sleepers like yours in great numbers. What's the railhead, 30mm x 10mm?

                          Hi

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to ALL that assisted (Our team here in Vietnam) Rod, Ern, and myself Stewart over the past couple of months in respect to the stripping down and carrying out repairs to our "Pansy"

Through this assistance we have now completed the project and carried out our first (steam and run) – all went extremely well – with our Vietnamese observers seemingly mesmerized by the total experience.

During the project Ern kept a very detailed photo log of the progress and from this he put together the document below. I must point out that it was Rods Engineering abilities and Erns dedication and at times brilliant simplistic approach to problems that is the core of this document, I in turn being an encouraging observer!!

The document It is not meant to be anything but a simple introduction to the Pansy which covers the problems we encountered and the way we addressed same. Im sure there will be a few typos and maybe a few forgivable mistakes!! but we sincerely hope that it will be of some future benefit to beginners like ourselves .

Many thanks again from the Vietnam team.
