Instrumatic Hardness Tester

I bought this from ebay, sold as broken, for a fiver when I was making my Lammas hardness tester with the idea that I might use the diamond indenter.

Currently, when pressing on the handles, the shroud around the indenter retracts but nothing else happens with greater pressure and the dial does not move.  Before I take it apart and end up with a pile of useless bits, does anybody know anything about it?  Any info gratefully received.

Thank you, the drawings look right.  My record for mending stuff like this is abysmal but I’ll give it a go when I’m feeling lucky.
