Well … I hope the OP has 'got it' … because I, for one, am lost.

One simple question: Are the blocks tapped with two different sized threads ?

David says No … one thread for the levelling screw, and a plain bore

KWIL says Yes … one thread for the levelling screw, and 5/16" BSF for the stud.

This might be important [depending on the chosen method of removal of the 'stuck' studs.

P.S. I have selected the least confusing [to me] names for the components, and assumed that 5/15 should read 5/16 … I hope this causes no offence to either or both of the combatants.

Thanks to David's double nut trick, I have successfully removed all 4 studs.

To answer the £1,000,000 question: there are indeed TWO female threads, separated with a shoulder, in each block: 5/16" & 9/16" BSFs. The stud does thread into the block, but mine was definitely gunked up and took some leverage to remove.
