M&W suppliers in Suffolk

Hi I have just been given 4 M&W micrometers (0-1” 1-2” 0-25mm 25-50mm) but none have the adjustment key. I have contacted m&w but I was hoping someone might know of someone nearer than thetford, Ipswich would be good or online

Chris, you may know this already!

 

In Bury St Edmunds market there is a gentleman named Peter Wilson who runs a tool stall for the likes of you and I.

It’s a veritable Alladins cave and it’s worth paying him a visit he may well have the bits you need.

 

He is there on Saturdays only but take some extra cash, I always walk away with far more than intended because of the absolute bargains he has.

 

Sort of stuff he has: measuring instruments, cutters, reamers, drills, taps and dies, small mills and lathes, lots of accessories for the same, the list is endless.

 

Checkout his box of assorted metal, brass and bronze particularly selling about half the normal price.

If its the usual design, the general shape is that of a small c-spanner. You should be able to file up your own key from 1/16″ mild steel.

 

You are likely to find that one froma cheap micrometer will fit, as the peg-in-a-hole design isn’t particularly critical.
