Got a couple of similar emails from myself of all people today. One says:

      Hi, dear user of dsl.pipex.com
We have installed one RAT software into you device.
For this moment your email account is hacked (see on "from address", I messaged you from your account).
      Your password for xxxx@dsl.pipex.com: f6andrhel

I have downloaded all confidential information from your system and I got some more evidence.
The most interesting moment that I have discovered are videos records where you masturbating.

I posted my virus on porn site, and then you installed it on your operation system.
When you clicked the button Play on porn video, at that moment my trojan was downloaded to your device.
After installation, your front camera shoots video every time you masturbate, in addition, the software is synchronized with the video you choose.

For the moment, the software has collected all your contact information from social networks and email addresses.
If you need to erase all of your collected data, send me $800 in BTC (crypto currency).
This is my Bitcoin wallet: 13cyEdT7kyH2f4j9xchvDGhv1o64MYNLUS
You have 48 hours after reading this letter.

After your transaction I will erase all your data.
Otherwise, I will send video with your pranks to all your colleagues and friends!!!

      And henceforth be more careful!
      Please visit only secure sites!
      Bye!

      Should I be worried?

PS The email actually originated from a server in Vietnam. May the fleas of a thousand bandicoots infest his underwear.

Don't get taken in by this crap ! This scam has been doing the rounds for a little while.

But just in case a bit of tape over your camera and mic will solve any issues with being recorded and videoed.

Not sure if I should censor this thread… but I suppose it may help someone avoid being scammed.

Presumably they have a particularly advanced motion detection algorithm…

That depends on what you were doing! smile

I had a spate of similar emails a couple of months back. Six or seven emails a day for a couple of weeks followed by a couple a day for a few days. And then nothing for a couple of months. Total nonsense, and would never work with me for several reasons:

                  1. My computer is so old it has no camera of any sort so their claim is impossible

                  2. If I had registered with a porn site I wouldn't have been daft enough to use my business email

                  3. I wouldn't care if they sent any supposed video to recipients anyway

I would be in favour of keeping this thread visible.

If nothing else, it may help someone who thinks they

                    may have been hacked.
