Hello. Does ………………………………………………………………………book? A friend's child wants to 'make something,' and I thought this would be a good project for her. The book is not available in the US and postage from the UK to US is prohibitive.

      Alternative project suggestions are welcome.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2019 to you all!

Freight prohibitive? Four dollars direct from Camden Miniature Steam publishing website. Eight dollars on Amazon UK. (Never buy books internationally from Amazon if you can avoid it. There's always somewhere cheaper.)

Looks like a great project for a kid. ( I might have to make one myself.)

Assuming that Mr Gearing is not of very small stature … The engine is bigger than I expected

That is a lot bigger than the cover photo makes it look, would need a hefty compressor to get that one running.

I’ve seen several of that sort of size that work well from a vacuum cleaner though… if a bit noisy…

That would make sense as I'm sure they don't get used under load so HVLP would be fine.

Post was 9 pounds on one of the English sites. I had not considered AmazonUK. US Amazon has a used edition for over $50!

It is made to run off a vacuum cleaner and is aboout 300mm high.

I will keep looking on the sites you mention.

Thanks for the Camden books link. I will be using them.

If you have not ordered yet then I noticed that it was in Model Engine Builder mag a while ago, you can get digital back issues quite cheaply, all the drawings are in issue 24 along with 2 pages of text.

Thanks for the lead. I purchased the book a day earlier. The magazine looks very interesting.
