Well tonight I have started programming my Omron single to 3 phase 1.1kw inverter. I used to do this with my eyes shut (sort of) . Obviously now being an old fart, well retired I was struggling a bit with it. Not sure about the Chinese ones but this is mental. 177 pages of bumf. Still after a few hours of setting parameters, the thing just kept flashing. Behind the main cover is another cover that houses the NPN/PNP switch which was set in the wrong position so now the control station I have built is doing things when I press buttons etc. The problem I have is that it is connected to nothing. Yes. On the 31st of December 2019 I ordered online from Clarks machine mart a 1.1kw 3phase motor,, a pulley,, & 2 small oil cans. I know new years day was a no work day but I was hopeful when after ordering it gave me a date of 3 Jan pickup at local post office as this was 3 days better that picking up from a Clarks shop ????. That's what they told me. Anyway the day came & went & no delivery. I rang them & they said you ordered blah blah & 2 oil cans. I said yes that's correct,, to which they said we have no oil cans in stock. I said ok so where is my motor & pulley. It is still in the warehouse as we could not send out a complete order so we will wait until the oil cans arrive. I said I don't give a hoot about 2 oil cans I want my motor & pulley, I paid £4.75 for a 48 hr delivery & got nothing. Ok so we will send out today & you will have it in 2 days. You guessed the day came & went. Another phone call & a online tracking No showing package damaged & sent back to seller. They said yes the package must have got damaged so coming back to us. I got ever so slightly angry which I should not have done really as the guy on the other end of the phone had nothing to do with my quandry. So we will send one out immediately special delivery. Sorted. You will have it by Thursday/ Friday at the latest. The days came & went. Still no sodding motor. Anyone ever had problems with this bunch of ***********.

I ordered a small half ton arbor press on line from Machine Mart last month, because it said on line order only, to be picked up from the local store. Went to pick it up a couple of days later because it came from their main warehouse, and the bloke behind the counter said they had them in stock at their shop! No need to order it on line!

Moral of the story is to phone the local branch and check if they have it in their shop, or if they know if any of the other branches has the item. He said they stock 95% of what's in the catalogue and the computer system is archaic!

I like Machine Mart and spend money there often. It's one of the few places near me where I can get engineering stuff from.

In answer to the above. I live in Leeds & rang the local branch only to be told they do not Keep motors & pulley's in stock & had to be bought online. Hence bought online. The stupid thing is I bet when it comes it's a piece of Chinese crap that will hum it's head off. I was going to buy from a company in Lincoln that had brooks motors but went to Machine mart for the quickest delivery. Lesson learnt. Same with a Motorcycle lift. Bought from a warehouse in Mirfield for £250. Same one at machine mart was over £300. Sorry I waffle a lot. It's old age i'm sure I was not always like this. Sorry forgot the motors from Lincoln was £120. Machine mart  £143 + £4.95 48 hr or 15 day delivery. Not sure about the 15 days will advise if I ever get the motor before I go & live on a desert island.

Browill Rewinds are in Sheffield and supply excellent industrial quality motors.

Still no motor. Rang them again today & got a bit of a fob off. So asked to speak to someone higher up, chap was very apologetic & promised to send one out today, Overnight direct to me. I'll see what tomorrow brings. Won't hold my breath.

If it is distance buying, the buyer has a ‘cooling off’ period during which the transaction can be cancelled?

Yes I understand & did talk to them about cancelling & buying somewhere else. It was at that point they put me through to someone else who promises I will have the motor & bits Tue morning to my doorstep & not the Post office. I agreed & await in abatement.

I have had good service from Bearing Boys, they supply TEC motors which are good motors at good prices. I have a 1.5kW one fitted on my mill waiting for me to pull my finger out and build a panel for the Lenze inverter.

They definitely have motors in the leeds branch, ive been in there and physically had my hands on them! Don't know if they have both single and three phase though?

That was the 1st place I rang on the 30 dec 2019. I was told we do not have the 3phase 240v motors 1.1kw in stock here , you will have to purchase online.

Sorry, but that is not anything like the same as:

First one is that they simply do not stock motors, but the second is about that one specific motor. Not the same. You perhaps need to report more accurately so as not to inadvertently mislead forum readers. There are a fair number of pedants among the readership.smiley

The conversation was probably not exact with either term I used I was generalising on a fact My local store did not have what I wanted. There was much more to the conversation too but i'm not writing a book. Just stating I bought from Machine mart online & the reason why. Of course what is correct is at the time of writing this, I still have no motor. 15 Days for a 48hr delivery. Not bad eh.
