Clock looks great David! well done.

In the pic though, what keeps it from sliding down the wall? Is that one of those anti gravity doilies that magicians use? wink 2

Think you might have missed the thin wire attached to the helium balloon wink

Beautiful. I've got the book somewhere, intending to make one, but too many other part finished projects on the go

Thank you Duncan. I'm one of the worst with unfinished projects! When I started attempting to make clocks, I decided that I would only move on to the next one when the first was finished. It took quite a bit of self control

                              David,

What did you use for the electrical contacts? I found that everything I tried corroded after a few months of running. Eventually I installed nickel silver contacts which have worked reliably for several years now.

I like your base. Did you make that as well?

Well, these might corrode yet, it hasn't run for that long. I thought for a while about contact point material and settled on a set of contact breaker points from a BMW which I found on eBay. I cut them from the existing holder and riveted them to the spring etc.

I take my hat off to you David.

Like Ifoggy, I too am curious about the fretted base.

                                    Hello Sam,

Sorry for the late reply, I've just seen this.

The suggested wooden base for the clock seemed bit heavy for me so this is my alternative to it. It is called 'Gallery Banding' and it's used in furniture making as a decorative trim. Whether it's going to be permanent or not I'm not sure. We have quite a bit of victorian decor in our house and I thought the Art Nouveau design fitted quite well.

                                    Best Wishes, David

                                    P.S. Tilt away Sam

                                            Hello Bob,

Sorry it's a cheat! I am in the process of making a clear glass chapter ring which is proving a pain so in the meantime I found this on Etsy. It's from an old french clock and I quite like the distressed look with the crazed face. I intend replacing it at a later date.

As an aside, the third hand isn't a second hand. As a clue, albeit a vague one, I live in Lancaster on the west coast of the UK
