inside micrometer adjustment

Hi

I bought a nice little inside micrometer. The long barrel type with two lugs on the end. I know how to use it but as there are no instructions with lt l am unclear as to how to set it to zero with the little two ended spanner. There is a 5mm internal diameter disc with it which l know l fit over the two measuring lugs. Then what? l presume l need to attach the spanner into one of the holes in the body to get it to accurately read 5mm, but l dont want to abuse it. Any tips?

The disc is to calibrate the inside micrometer in case the measure is out of order. Insert the disc into the two ended spanner and turn the micrometer carefully and check there is 5 mm. In case not 5 mm, adjust with the spanner carefully until it showing 5 mm and reread again under calibrating, when the micrometer is correct at 5 mm each time. Ready to use.

 

Important! The room temperature must be 20 degree celsius (68 Fahrenheit) to get right reading of measure results is correct while you are calibrating the micrometer. Keep micrometer clean and free from swarf,dust. Do not leave the micrometer on the machines or places where it generates heat and you get the error measure of micrometer. Do not measure while the subject is hot. Let it lie in their own storage box that came with the micrometer.
