Gluing metal

Does anyone know of an adhesive that will do this job, please?

I want to stick/glue a piece of mild steel about 4mm wide to a piece of hardened steel about 8mm wide. It needs to survive being outdoors but not during winter, so it shouldn't freeze. It will be getting wet and there is not much mechanical force trying to separate the pieces, say no more than you can push with your finger. It is a permanent fix and the glue needs to be concealed between the pieces.

Try two part epoxy resin; key both surfaces first.

Agree with George.

Clean the pieces with alcohol before bonding. Then clean them again.

Mix the two parts of the epoxy. Then mix them again.

You might consider “J.B. Weld. I used this on a job, and placed the parts incorrectly. When this has happened with “Arraldite”, a smart tap with a hammer has broken the bond, ready for a retry. Not with J.B. Weld. All that hitting it with a hammer did was to dent the surface. I had to heat it up with a torch to get it apart!

I use it for model making too, creating authentic looking castings from fabricated parts with it.

There are two types, standard which takes a long time to set up and rapid which just takes a few minutes.

It contains steel filings so gluing magnets can be difficult.

Scrupulous cleaning is a must like any gluing, soldering operation.

Loctite 380 Black Max. Given scrupulous cleansing before use, it's much better than 'standard' cyanoacrylates, being rubber-toughened. A 'must' for the toolbox!

4mm wide, but how long snd how thick? What is the bond area? That said a metal filled epoxy like JB weld, Araldite Steel is likely to be the best choice if you want a hidden bond as the glue line or fillet will look like steel. but from your described requirements any epoxy or super glue would work. For structural meatal bond toughned acrylic like Loctte 330 or Permabond TA435 are a good option.

That's a no brainer, JB Weld original. Incredible what this stuff will do, you can even drill & tap threads in it. It also takes more heat to break a bond than just about any other 2 part adhesive.
