Does anyone know where I can get the actual specs for the Dickson Quickchnage tool holders for the Myford super 7 ? I would like to know the dimensions that they use for the Vee and the area where they use a T slot cutter for the hold back clamp. I have some and can measure them, but would like to know what the actual spec is.

My holders have W stamped on the inside of where the T slot cutter has passed through.

      Thanks for any replies,

      Neil Lickfold

I've not seen published drawings of the finer details just the overall sizes as above link. As yours have the original W mark probably OK to measure them.

Thanks Jason for making a new and better titled thread. I wonder if those who have made Dickson 00 tool holders are willing to share the dimensions that they used for making their own tool holders?

              Thanks, Neil Lickfold

Neil here is a sketch I made from an original Myford/Dickson tool holder for another forum member last year, he was/is in France hence me using metric dimensions–if you want imperial either convert them or let me know.

Hope its of use to you — John

Just a quick tip for those who don't know it already.

To get an accurate dimension between the "Vee's" ( the 47.98 dim in the above sketch )

Lay two bits of 1/4" diameter HSS toolsteel or something similar in each Vee, then take two measurements, one inside the round bars and another outside of them, adding the two together and dividing the result by two will give you a much more accurate dimension than trying to fit your digital verniers across the Vees.

Also, the relationship between the 47.98 and the 3.7 dimensions is very important so as to make sure the clamp works in the same range as your existing toolholders.

Sorry if I am teaching granny to suck eggs.

Here is a parting toolholder I made for my miniature Dixon style rear toolpost on the Myford, using the method described.

Sorry if I am teaching granny to suck eggs…

Or in the words of the classic rhyme:

Teach not thy parent's mother to extract

                      the embryonic juices of an egg by suction;

That worthy lady can herself the feat enact,

quite irresepective of thy kind instruction.

Neil needs to twist Phil's arm for a MEW article here, that's a lot better than holding the KitQcut blade via 2 countersunk screws
