        Helllo all,

Could anyone out there who has a grasp of trig help solve my problem which is as follows,

I have a piece of steel 50mm in length, now 44mm in from the end I drilled a Ø3mm hole to act as an axis of rotation, then 10mm from the axis is a small center mark I need to rotate the piece by 50deg left and right so when I rotate the first 50 deg what should the dro be showing to get back exactly over the center mark, in other words what amount do I need to move the x and y axis to get back right on the center mark. I have zeroed the x and y over the axis. I come up with figures of 3.57 and 7.66 but I am not to confident about my calculations.

        Regards,

        Raymond.

Can you do a quick sketch so I can understand exactly what you are doing and I will check your dimensions

            Hi Raymond,

I get 6.43 and 7.66 but could be mistaken abut what you are doing, a diagram would help.

            Best of luck.

            Peter.

I get the same figures as you 6.43 on the Xs and 7.66 on the Y.

You should also be able to use the angle function or even set a one hole PCD on your DRO which will give you the position that the ctr mark should be in, thats assuming you have a proper job not just individual readouts.

Did a quick sketch in Autocad and I agree with 7.69and 6.43

Tried to paste the sketch from autocad but failed.

                    Hello All,

Many thanks for the reply's to my question. I tried to upload a drawing from the Solid edge model but no joy.

You all seemed to have grasped the situation from my description, so I will crack on using the figures of 7.66 and 6.43 as it is not too critical as long as the angle is 50 Deg.

Jason, Yes the dro is a Newall 3 axis C80 not individual units. So I will also see what it comes up with.

                    Regards to all,

                    Raymond.

Update, I have managed to put a jpeg into my album, the sketch is from another programme as this site software can't handle the drawing from the Solidedge model. It is from the solidedge model that I got my original figures of 3.57 and 7.66

                      Raymond.
