Here's an update on the Arc parting tools.
The next MEW will have some information on them, but after getting hold of the tool block holder for the 'blade' NCIH that Ketan was demonstrating, I finally tried it out today, too late for the magazine.
These are unhappy if you don't make them work hard.
618 rpm, winding in almost as fast as I could, about 1 1/2 seconds per turn (40 thou), which is about as fast as I can manage, and it went through EN1a (non-pb) like butter and left a mirror finish.
If you have these inserts DON'T pussy-foot about.

Edit: Added photo, which as always makes the surface finish look poorer than it really is, it feels perfectly smooth! NB – this was done on my mini lathe.
