Hello.
I am investigating the purchase of a Martin Evans M.30 design 8" 5 litre VFT boiler that was constructed in 1994 by Cornish Boilers and to date has never been steamed,
The boiler was made as part of a stationary engine exhibit to power a Stuart #1 and has laid complete but not used since. The boiler is complete with cladding, pipeworks and valves.
It was issued with pressure test and material certificates at date of manufacture in November 1994 by the manufacturer.
Would this boiler expect to be in the same condition it was when built with respect to it passing a hydraulic test now.
What are the potential problems, if any, of a inactive copper boiler over 20 years. The cladding and surface finish are like new, as is the engine indicatiing it has been stored well. It would be exported and this is why I ask as a non tested boiler is a potential liability and cannot be returned.
Its value is given as 2200 GBP.
I would appreciate anyone views on the integrity of this purchase.
